Current Transformer Placement
CT placement locations include the following: Site (Grid): A CT is placed between the utility meter and main switch to measure both load and generation. See Appendix F: Feature Notes
Installing the Current Transformers Follow the below steps to assemble the CT: Place the CT (2) on the mounting plate (1) (Figure 73). Insert the washers (4) and the screws (3) in the mounting holes at each corner of the CT (2). Tighten each screw (3) to a torque of 68 N•m. Place the spout to CT connection (7) in position.
Follow instructions carefully. DANGER: To reduce the risk of electric shock, always open or disconnect circuit from the power distribution system (or service) of the building before installing or servicing current transformers. DANGER: Risk of electrocution! Do not install CTs when current is flowing in the sensed circuit.
If a measurement device is retrofitted and only a protective core is available, we recommend using a 5/5 winding current transformer to decouple the protective core. Find out everything you need to know about how to correctly install current transformers.
To set up the storage meter, tap Storage Meter. Tap ENABLE STORAGE METER to enable the storage meter in the system. Tap DONE to complete the setup. All current transformers include lead wires for wiring the CT directly into the IQ Gateway terminals.
