Smart microgrids are designed to be resilient and reliable, able to quickly respond to changes in demand or supply disruptions. Microgrids offer energy solutions for companies and communities seeking greater sustainability. They can seamlessly integrate renewable energy sources such as solar, wind and hydroelectric power.
Microgrids (MGs) represent one outcome of this transformation. The MG represent a compact power system comprising of independent renewable energy resources (RERs), energy storage systems (ESSs), and loads operating as a unified control system to generate power for localized areas within the range of 10–100 MW [3, 4].
Technology plays a crucial role in this process. Advanced microgrid control systems use algorithms to optimize the operation of diverse power sources in real-time.
