This marks the completion and operation of the largest grid-forming energy storage station in China. This energy storage station is one of the first batch of projects supporting the 100 GW large-scale wind and photovoltaic bases nationwide.
It will be Tesla's first grid-side energy storage station to be built on the Chinese mainland. Dong Kun, general manager of Tesla China's energy business, said the station, once launched, will participate in electricity spot trading, helping balance peak and off-peak power demand in the local grids and enhance grid stability.
On March 31, the second phase of the 100 MW/200 MWh energy storage station, a supporting project of the Ningxia Power's East NingxiaComposite Photovoltaic Base Project under CHN Energy, was successfully connected to the grid. This marks the completion and operation of the largest grid-forming energy storage station in China.
"In terms of single-power station-installed capacity, new energy storage plants are increasingly exhibiting a trend toward centralization and large-scale operations," Bian added.
